Guide des Aéroports PARIS CHARLES DE GAULLE

PARIS CHARLES DE GAULLE

Charles de Gaulle Airport (also known as Roissy Airport) is France's largest international airport. It is named after Charles de Gaulle, leader of the Free French Forces and founder of the French Fifth Republic, as well as the President of France from 1959 to 1969. The airport started life as Aéroport de Paris Nord, before being developed and renamed, opening officially as Charles de Gaulle Airport on 8th March 1974. Handling more than 60 million passengers, Charles de Gaulle is Europe’s second busiest airport (after London Heathrow) and the world’s eighth busiest. In terms of cargo, it handles more than 2.1 million tonnes a year, which makes it the most popular in Europe. The airport lies to the northeast of central Paris and is serviced by three terminals, spreading their flights across four runways.
