Power on ice
2016 will see Bentley hosting an event like no other. A select number of guests will be invited to northern Finland, close to the Arctic Circle, to test the exceptional on-ice capabilities of Bentayga, Bentley’s first SUV.
Those in attendance will be among the first people to drive this new model. Privately chartered ACS jets and chauffeur-driven cars take the select few from Helsinki to Chalet Ruka Peak where there is a choice of luxury accommodation with stunning views and a restaurant serving renowned modern Scandinavian cuisine.
As part of this Bentley Power on Ice event, guests will receive one-to-one expert tuition for two days, learning to master the controls of high-performance Bentleys on ice and drift gracefully around handcrafted corners – all in a perfectly controlled environment.
And to show guests how it’s done, Bentley have also invited four-time World Rally Champion Juha we ron Kankkunen, who, as a winning ice-racing Finn, is no stranger to the white stuff. Each invitee will enjoy a ‘fast lap’ with Juha, who has broken the world ice speed record in a Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible, twice. Drawing on his wealth of experience, Juha designs multiple circuits – uniquely different each year – all carved into the ice of northern Finland’s frozen lakes.
Those in attendance will also get to drive the Flying Spur and Continental (including the GT3-R) and organisers say that while it’s icy, there’s plenty of speed to be had. Exhilarating driving may be the highlight, but Power on Ice has more up its sleeve. The two-day experience is total immersion in refined luxury and adventure in one of the remotest, most beautiful parts of the world. Activities include snowmobiling, ice-karting, smoke sauna and even a night-time husky-sled safari.
