Athens Municipal Airport is just miles from the CBD of Athens, in Henderson County, Texas. The Airport is the base of operations for the Athens jet Centre, which sells aircraft services, aircraft sales and jet fuel. The airport has low traffic, with approx. 20 aircraft operations a day. The town of Athens has a small population of less than 13 000 people, and is the county seat of Henderson County. The city calls itself the "Black-Eyed Pea Capital of the World". The town was of the first "Certified Retirement Communities" in Texas.
