Jicarilla Apache Nation Airport is a publicly-owned, public access airport located 10 miles south of Dulce, in Rio Arriba, New Mexico. The airport was activated in May, 1998 and gets an average of 58 aircraft operations a month, all of which is classified as transient general aviation. The airport was named after the Jicarilla Apache Nation who live in New Mexico. The Jicarilla called themselves also Haisndayin; translated as "people who came from below", because they believed themselves to be the sole descendants of the first people to emerge from the underworld, the abode of Ancestral Man and Ancestral Woman who produced the first people.
